Birdi Systems, Inc. (BSI) is hiring a motivated IT Systems Support Specialist to support identity management and security technology operations at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career IT professional looking to gain hands-on experience supporting enterprise systems, SQL databases, biometric devices, and access control platforms in a secure aviation environment.
You’ll work directly with experienced engineers and client stakeholders while building real-world experience in system administration, database support, hardware integration, and end-user technical support.
What You’ll Do
- Support and maintain SQL Server and MySQL databases, including basic queries and report generation
- Create ad-hoc and scheduled operational reports
- Troubleshoot Windows 10/11, Windows Server, and Linux systems
- Support workstation hardware and peripherals (biometric scanners, badge printers, cameras, USB devices)
- Install and configure Microsoft Office and business productivity tools
- Provide on-site technical support and clear end-user guidance
- Perform preventive maintenance on IT systems and office equipment
- Support airport credentialing and identity management systems
- Assist with scheduling and queuing systems used in badging operations
- Maintain IT asset inventory and coordinate vendor repairs/replacements
- Follow strict IT security and access control procedures
- Collaborate with engineering teams and airport personnel to support daily operations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field (recent graduates encouraged to apply)
- Foundational knowledge of operating systems, databases, and troubleshooting methods
- Basic experience with SQL (academic or project-based experience acceptable)
- Understanding of hardware, networking fundamentals, and peripheral devices
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work full-time on-site at LAX
- Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance (background check required)
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Internship or helpdesk experience supporting enterprise systems
- Exposure to SQL Server or MySQL environments
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems
- Interest in cybersecurity, identity management, or physical security systems
- Experience with ticketing or service management platforms
- Interest in aviation, transportation, or critical infrastructure environments
