Job Overview

The Product Owner is responsible for setting, prioritizing, and evaluating the work generated by a software Scrum team in order to ensure impeccable features and functionality of the product. The Product Owner responsibilities include, but are not limited to, gathering feature requests, scheduling releases and coordinating sprints. To be successful in this role, you should be able to identify user needs and work with cross-functional teams to manage product releases. Ultimately, you’ll help us roll-out products that deliver our company’s vision.

This is a full-time, salaried position with excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, matching 401k and a generous PTO plan. This is a remote role working a standard work week.

Responsibilities
• Clearly express Product Backlog items, develop user stories and work with the QA Team to define acceptance criteria, have the ability to translate and communicate customer requirements to engineers and vice versa
• Optimize the value of the work the Development Team performs, order the items in the Product Backlog to best achieve goals and missions and plan and prioritize the product feature backlog and development for the product
• Set sprint goals to ensure sprints are within allocated capacity and meet release plan priority alignment
• Ensure that the Product Backlog is visible, transparent, and clear to all, and shows what the Scrum Team will work on next
• Ensure the Development Team understands items in the Product Backlog to the level needed
• Create and Assign user flows/mockups, release notes and other artifacts through product lifecycle and communicate to all internal groups
• Work closely with Product Management to create and maintain a product backlog according to business value, platform health and ROI
• Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of release/sprint goals
• Interface with the Lead Engineer and assigned engineering teams
• Work closely with the assigned PMO engagement/delivery manager
• Develop sprint reports that include completed work, release notes, retrospectives and supply to the Delivery Manager
• Provide vision and direction to the Agile development team and stakeholders throughout the project
• Contribute to the prioritization of communication, initiatives, release, grooming and sprint planning, and technical debt
• Ensure product management priorities are driving stories, epics, and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value and quality for our products
• Provide backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of the user stories Work with the Delivery Manager and contribute as a Product Owner to release planning and set expectations for delivery of new functionalities
• Keep an awareness of our competitive landscape and target industries per product and product marketing
• Keep abreast with Agile/Scrum best practices and new trends
• Refine and continuously improve our agile methodology based on results and client feedback; value maturity and repeatability as well as innovation amongst teams
• Promote an agile team culture over individual heroics, valuing our colleagues
• Promote creative confidence across teams, recognizing that failure is part of the process “the sausage making”
• Complete corporate training on a timely basis.
• Assist with the creation of and follow critical Standard Operating Procedures and Workflows
• Participate in cross training staff as requested
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
• Previous working experience as a Software Product Owner for 2 year(s)
• Knowledge of the Software Lifecycle
• Ability to work with a virtual team, with developers and teammates around the world
• In-depth knowledge of Agile process and principles
• PSPO Product Owner Certification preferred
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, or similar software
• BA in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
• Outstanding communication, presentation and leadership skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
• Creative thinker with a vision
• Attention to detail
• Ability to interface with the Client, Engineering, Product Management, CSM, PMO and Design to drive delivery from ideation to execution
• Customer and solution-focused
